Drink review – Nogne Alcohol-free Lime Ale is a refreshing drink that quenches your thirst and has you reaching for another. Full of tart citrus notes and sweet malt flavours, this is a well-balanced beer, perfect for summer.
Not sure about you guys but Nogne is a beer producer I’ve not come across before. Starting over twenty years ago they’ve gone on to become one of Norway’s leading craft breweries.
Based in Grimstad, southern Norway, Nogne now has a large range of beers to choose from including IPA’s, bitters, porters and this lime-infused alcohol-free ale I tested today.
Nogne mature their beer in hundreds of oak barrels that previously contained other drinks (white wine, port etc) to give their beers a unique taste.
To make their non-alcoholic ale aka ‘Stripped Craft’ Nogne Non-alcoholic has taken their classic blonde beer and added freshly squeezed lime juice, letting it mature before removing the alcohol content.
I am a big fan of flavoured beer, especially during the warm months. So, the question is, has Nogne created a refreshing, drinkable alcohol-free ale? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.
Is Nogne Alcohol-free Lime Ale Any Good?
Taste
Well, the good news is that this is a non-alcoholic thirst-quencher. You can expect a refreshing mouthful of lime-infused sweet malty beer cut through nicely by the hop flavours. Personally I think it could have done with a touch more carbonation but overall a well-balanced, tasty beer that’s perfect for summer.
Aroma & Appearance
The aromas of lime certainly permeate the air when the cap is pulled off. Stripped Craft pours with a light, cloud look and a short frothy head.
